The Pointed Man

  • Hello Mother… Hello Father… Greetings from Camp, Twin Cities SharePoint …

Well, the first bi-annual Twin Cities SharePoint Camp has been a rousing success.  We had over 140 attendees and 22 Sessions representing some of the best and brightest minds in the area on SharePoint.  The weather for the event was a pristine sunny day, and the turnout for this event was phenomenal.

We did have 24 presentations scheduled, which means two sessions that were scheduled did not occur.  We had one illness that ...

  • Managed Paths and SharePoint 2007

I had an interesting question from a client today.  They wanted to be able to hang multiple site collections off of their root url (let's just use http:\\litwareinc.com\) for this discussion.

Or to put this another way, they did NOT want to use the Sites default Managed path for additional site collections (i.e. http:\\litwareinc.com\sites\HR, http:\\litwareinc.com\sites\Sales, etc.).

    Here's the deal...

You can manage these paths from Central Administration > Application Management > ...

  • Migration from SharePoint 2003 to 2007 & Moving Sites Alerts issues

In working with a client the other week we came across a bit of odd functionality...
Namely that after you upgrade a SharePoint implementation to MOSS 2007 existing alerts do not seem to function correctly.
    KB#936759 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936759/en-us
E-mail notifications for alerts are not sent when content in a migrated list or in a migrated document library changes after you perform a database migration to upgrade to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
